Job Description
The Pharmacy Technician will perform responsibilities independently under the supervision of an oncology pharmacist. Key duties include entering prescriptions, calculating doses, dispensing hazardous and non-hazardous medications, coordinating deliveries, aiding patients with financial assistance programs, maintaining inventory, handling prior authorizations, resolving insurance issues, and collaborating with staff to complete various tasks in the dispensary.
Responsibilities
- Accurately enter prescription information.
- Contact prescribers to clarify orders and prescriptions.
- Perform mathematical calculations and metric conversions to determine accurate medication quantities.
- Select proper medication strength and vial size to minimize drug waste.
- Dispense accurate medications and correctly label them.
- Handle hazardous and non-hazardous oral, topical, and parenteral medications.
- Prepare medications for delivery.
- Organize and maintain medication and supply inventories.
- Perform inventory control duties, including ordering, receiving, stocking, exchanging, and returning medications and supplies.
- Ensure medications are appropriately stored.
- Resolve insurance issues and complete medication prior authorizations.
- Aid patients with financial assistance programs.
- Ensure appropriate EMR documentation and communication with staff.
- Adhere to Federal, State, and local laws and regulations.
- Follow organizational policies and procedures.
- Train new staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Current and valid California Certified Pharmacy Technician license.
- 1+ years of experience in Specialty Pharmacy or In-Office Dispensary.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Bilingual: Fluent in English and Armenian.
